| In 1996, the Chancellor's Task Force on Women at Carolina strongly stated the need for a women's center. |

| The Center was created in 1997 under the Provost's office. |

| For its first three years, from 1997 to 2000, the Carolina Women's Center was led by Marsha Collins, who was assisted by an energetic advisory board. |

| In 2000, Diane Kjervik became the first director and served as professor of nursing and director of the CWC until 2005. |
| '06 |
| In 2006, the Carolina Women's Center welcomed Donna M. Bickford as its first full-time director. |
| '07 |
| In 2007, the CWC celebrated its 10th Anniversary through an anniversary luncheon and Women's Week '07. |
