At the Carolina Women’s Center, we welcome any student, faculty or staff member to be involved in our work. We rely on our dedicated interns and volunteers to promote our mission and keep our work relevant and effective. Complete our internship/volunteer interest form.
Some of the benefits of volunteering with us include:
• Developing new skills and perspectives
• Networking with students, faculty & staff
• Learning about women’s and gender issues
• Making new friends and building community at the CWC
• Opportunities to develop new ideas/projects/events
• Working on fun, educational, creative events and programs
• Leadership opportunities
Here is a list of volunteer positions and some of the possible tasks associated with them. (Remember: this is not a complete list, and we are always open to hearing your suggestions and working with you to help tailor your experience to your specific interests!)
There are many different ways to get involved with our blog and other media efforts, including covering events, writing feature stories, taking photos, helping design flyers, and helping with editing.
As a program support volunteer, you will be part of the team that helps develop and publicize programs, and insure that our events run smoothly. If you have an idea for a program that you would like to design on your own, you may also be able to do this with support from the CWC staff.
Publicity and outreach are crucial to the work we do. You can assist by posting fliers, sending targeted mailings, e-mailing listservs, making announcements in classrooms, or utilizing Facebook and other online tools to help us get the word out about our work and events. Once you learn more and become more involved, you might also be interested in becoming a CWC ambassador and make brief presentations about the Center in classes or for other groups.
Help us plan and execute our campus-wide celebration of gender equity and women’s empowerment in March. We need volunteers to serve on planning sub-committees and to help out during the week’s events.
