History of the CWC
'96
In 1996, the Chancellor's Task Force on Women at Carolina strongly stated the need for a women's center.
'97
The Center was created in 1997 under the Provost's office.
'00
For its first three years, from 1997 to 2000, the Carolina Women's Center was led by Marsha Collins, who was assisted by an energetic advisory board.
'88
In 2000, Diane Kjervik became the first director and served as professor of nursing and director of the CWC until 2005.
'06
In 2006, the Carolina Women's Center welcomed Donna M. Bickford as its first full-time director.
'07
In 2007, the CWC celebrated its 10th Anniversary through an anniversary luncheon and Women's Week '07.
