Programs & Events

Our programs are the public face of the CWC and a visible way that we demonstrate our commitment to women’s empowerment and gender equity. We take a collaborative approach to planning events that are aligned with the university’s teaching, research, and public service mission.

One-Time Events

Our monthly programming includes a diverse selection of speakers, screenings, discussions, and performances sponsored and co-sponsored by the CWC. Visit our event calendar page to learn more about upcoming events andLIKE’ us on FACEBOOK for the most current updates about what we have going on!  If you are interested in working with the CWC to plan or co-sponsor a program, contact us!

Ongoing Programs

The CWC sponsors/supports a range of ongoing trainings and program series, including:

HAVEN

Workshops for faculty, staff, and students who want to become informed allies for survivors of sexual assault and relationship violence. HAVEN trainings cover myths, facts, and statistics about interpersonal violence, as well as resources that are available on campus and in the community to address survivors’ needs and concerns. Participants leave this four-hour training with valuable knowledge about how to make referrals and provide support, and those who take the HAVEN pledge are provided with a door sign indicating that they are a safe person to talk to about sexual assault and relationship violence. Trainings are offered 1-2 times per semester for faculty and staff and 3-4 times per semester for students. (For more information on the HAVEN program, click here).  Orchestrated through UNC Wellness.

What to Expect When You´re Expecting @ UNC

Informal orientation and information for expectant undergraduate students, graduate and professional students, and postdoctoral scholars. Topics covered include parental leave policies, health insurance issues, academic and career concerns, finding and paying for childcare, lactation resources, and where to find support on campus.  See the What to Expect When You’re Expecting website and the Parenting@UNC website for information.
